Birds Antikythera Autumn and Spring Migrations ...
Pictures from our visits doing Raptor Migration Watch with the Hellenic Ornithological Society on the nearby island of Antikythera. Autumn 2007/08/09 and Spring 2009
The island is a two hour ferry trip from Kissamos, Crete and lies within sight of the northern tip of Gramvousa. It is an important stopping off point for migrants. HOS run a raptor watch and ringing scheme in both Spring and Autumn. The pictures in this gallery are depicting the island and the wildlife, some of the close ups were shot at the ringing station. There are also photos of Eleonora's Falcon, the island is home to the worlds largest breeding colony.
