14th April

Weather....0900....14.3C....Sea, choppy...Visibility 20 miles....Cloud 99% ....       Wind N-E 1... 1011mb  occasional sunshine after overnight rain

Birds of the day ........ Six Marsh Harrier passed north at around 0800 , a male Red-footed Falcon looked forlorn as it sat drying from the overnight rain.

A drive out onto gramvousa with Matts and Lis from Sweden produced a good selection of birds the best ones being a nice singing Ortolan Bunting, a couple of male collared Flycatchers and a female Pied flycatcher. A very bedraggled Greater Spotted Eagle seen yesterday again tried to head north but conditions had it heading back inland. 12 Lesser Kestrels were seen in the hills and returning mid afternoon a nice Long-legged Buzzard was seen briefly.  Bonelli's eagles once again showed up but were very high. A note on the cuckoos , we have never had cuckoos staying in the area , usually here today and gone tomorrow ! now we have a male and female which seem to be actively seeking out blackbirds , we wonder will they breed locally this year !
