Hen Harrier location unknown

4th January

After recent storms the road at the mouth of Tavronitis river has washed away , widening the riverbed a great deal , maybe now about 100 metres across. After a few years of no birds things may be looking up for some spring migrants this spring !

Whooper Swan seen briefly at Kissamos harbour this morning, no further sightings.

A Great Crested Grebe at Malia harbour Lots of Gulls about along the north coast after the storms with good numbers of Black-headed around.

I think there have also been sightings of fuscus, heuglin's, cachinnans, armenicus, argentatus along with Little and Pallas's, joining the usual michahellis

3rd January

Whooper Swan spotted at Agyia lake this afternoon 10th record for Crete.

Also the first winter recording of a Glossy Ibis also at the lake.

A single Sandwich Tern at Kaliviani.
